West Coast Swing
(aka WCS)
Beginning & Intermediate level classes begins per the schedule posted
below at
Dance City Dance
Studio, 5318 Sparks Blvd, Sparks 89436. Each class is one night per
week, 6 weeks in length.
Sometimes, if
not enough people indicate they want a beginning WCS
class, I will substitute a Ballroom dance in place of the
WCS class -- classes sometimes offered are Cha, Hustle,
Foxtrot, Rumba, Night Club 2 Step, Waltz, or Country 2
Step.
The
Beginning (aka Novice or Level I) class consists of approximately
10-12 basic
movements of the dance being offered. This
class is usually offered through Truckee Meadows
Community College.
Registration for this class can be either first night of
Class at the class location, or register

http://www.tmcc.edu/wdce Click on “Register” in the left side bar;
under course headings select Dance; Scroll all the way down to the
bottom and you’ll see “West Coast Swing Dancing” ; Click on the
“West Coast Swing” title and the course description will appear. From
there you can click on the registration button and use your credit card.
At the
conclusion of the 6 week WCS Novice class (the following week), an
Intermediate class begins, also one night per week for 6 weeks.

At the
conclusion of a Ballroom 6 week class, we generally start
a different type of Ballroom dance (see above).
Which dance is voted on by the students.
The
Intermediate classes consists of
10-12
movements that are an expansion of the basic moves taught in the
beginning class. The movements are set in approximately 7-8
different sets of choreography, each consisting of 10-12 movements.
Approximately 100 different movements are taught overall. The
choreography is designed to increase the skill level of the student.
Lead/follow techniques are are explained as well as proper footwork to
execute the movements smoothly. Check

Intermediate students will register and pay for the 6 week series on the
first night of class. Cost is $49 per student.
Ballroom Classes
By popular
demand of my students, I will teach a beginning Ballroom
dance from time to time. Note the schedule below
for this type of class.
Class Schedules
All classes are 6 week sessions on Wednesday nights on
the dates/times indicated below.
Partners are not required, but students are requested to try to
recruit a friend of the opposite sex to also take the class so as
to help balance the class for Leaders & Followers.
